was born in 1956 in yokohama, japan. he graduated from tokyo university and worked at arata isozaki & associates before establishing his own tokyo based studio jun aoki & associates in 1991. the practice's activities include structural studies, interior and exterior architecture in various fields. major works of jun aoki include early projects 'S house' in katsuura (chiba pre.) and 'mamihara bridge' in soyo (kumamoto pre.); the 'fukushima lagoon museum' in toyosaka,(niigata pre.), which won the architectural institute of japan annual award and the 'aomori museum of art', in aomori, which won the grand award of the international competition. recent projects include the 'sia aoyama building' and the 'go-sees hiroo' photo studio, both in tokyo. during his career jun aoki has designed numerous showrooms and buildings for fashion house LV / louis vuitton. in 2008 he was awarded the minister of education 'art encouragement prize', and the 'good design award for his 'sia aoyama building' project.
